Shortly before graduating from Washington University, our classmate, Jim McKelvey, decided to take a glassblowing class. The rest, as they say, is history. While Jim is also the author of two textbooks on Pascal computer programming and holds dual degrees in computer science and economics and is involved in real estate and other entrepreneurial activities (yes, he's still brilliant!), his Third Degree Glass Factory is his passion. Founded in 2002, Third Degree is a public-access glass art education center offering education, studio rental for artists and students, and work for sale by local glass artists. The facility, with over 8,000 sq. ft. of usable space, provides classes and events during day and space for events in the evenings. We appreciate Jim's hospitality in hosting the Class of '83 at Third Degree.

Also helping to make our evening a memorable one is classmate Drew Sterling, and his wife, Jennifer Plattner Sterling (Class of '85). The Sterlings own St. Louis Rotisserie (www.caterwithus.com), located just west of 270 at 13029 Olive Boulevard. We'll enjoy a buffet dinner, including Rotisserie chicken, grilled salmon, salad and side dishes (including enough to satisfy those who are vegetarians). There will also be a cash bar available.

Surrounded by amazing glassworks, the ambiance will be great - including music from our era, a slideshow of our class, and glass blowing by Jim - and, for those who want to continue the party, we've provided a list of restaurants in the Loop and Clayton here:
